Maths - Curriculum Intent
At Woodley CofE we believe that maths is an important discipline which helps children and adults understand and change the world. Our intent is to help our children become confident mathematicians who recognise the significance of maths in the ‘real world’ and who are self-aware of their own strengths and weaknesses. We aim to foster a positive attitude to the subject and to help our children develop their fluency and reasoning skills as they move through our school. We teach mathematical concepts through small manageable steps and encourage our children to recognise mistakes and misconceptions as an essential part of their learning journey. In our school the majority of children will be taught the maths skills and concepts designated for their year group, but we recognise that flexibility will be needed to support those with additional needs.
