Day 2 (Tuesday 20th October 2026)
Day 2 started with knocks on chalet days at 6.45, in preparation for breakfast at 7.20. An early start, but with most chalets awake all already in some shape or form, we were really pleased to end the first night positively – the children were all fantastic and settled down at ‘lights out’ with minimal fuss or worry. Many BRAVE and BRIGHT children amongst us as expected! Breakfast time was met with the expected buzz of anticipation for activities to come, as everyone continued such a positive start with a variety of cooked and traditional options to eat.
Sadly, the same could not be said regarding the weather, as we woke to a soggy start which lasted throughout much of the day (the morning particularly harsh in these terms!) But thankfully, this did not dampen spirits or enthusiasm of the group, who after breakfast, soon settled into activities of Abseiling, Climbing and the ever-popular….boat cleaning (or Matrix as they call it here….the children will we’re sure be keen to explain later in the week!)
As activities started and group work began, we were soon impressed as always with the children’s support for each other, as well as the resilience of many to keep pushing themselves to achieve and complete new challenges. Coming down the Abseiling wall a particular highlight for many!
Lunch then came and went, with our first shop visit delayed till tomorrow by the Google outage which may or may not have spread to other workplaces too! This leads to a solitary shop visit tomorrow (which some children queried could mean ‘double’ sweets money in this case!? – not sure whether we look forward to this or not as teachers!)
The afternoon, thankfully SLIGHTLY drier, then bought a new activity for us to experience, Archery Tag, involving masks and arrows with ‘marshmallow’ ends. We were impressed once more with the children’s accuracy and teamwork. Around this, all also enjoyed sight-wide Orienteering, which sets up tonight’s evening activity to come well too…
As we type, the children and staff have finished off another dinner time and are enjoying some free time in and around chalets, as well as on the sports court, before getting ready for another evening activity of Passport to the World (a sight-wide, country and location-themed game in the dark!)
We hope you are enjoying our updates and keeping up with the children’s adventures –  a bumper day of activities to come tomorrow, with the highlight being the SENSORY TRAIL, alongside Beach Walking, Vertical Challenge and more….some are prepping their ‘muddy clothes’ in organisation for this as we speak! Others…..frantically working out what/where/which these could be……we expect as always, varied success with this!
Forecasts hopefully point to some breaks in rain tomorrow, but with hopefully prime Sensory Trail conditions set up from today - Check in tomorrow for more highlights as ever.
