Art Club (Y5 & Y6)

Now in its 4th year, art club is a great way to learn new skills and be creative. In our sketchbooks, we experiment with different mediums (Mrs Sharman likes our sketchbooks to record our art journey).

Autumn term was about developing our watercolour techniques, using quality brushes and proper watercolour paper. Another successful Christmas display was ‘Rudolf the red-nose Reindeer’ – we had a lot of fun making that.

Spring moved us on to acrylics, and we worked hard on creating collages using different paint effects. We were all so proud of our ‘name’ canvases, which were both original and individual.

This Easter, we were asked to do a display for the Woodley Airfield Church, and our Triptych depicting the Easter story was a collaborative effort – the result was admired by all.

This term we are looking at the paintings of L.S.Lowry, and trying to scale up or down a section of his artwork. We are only using 5 colours (which was how Lowry painted) so it is quite challenging.
